Good temperate water diving. Vis good to very good.Lots of fish. Home of the Leafy Sea Dragon - if you know where to find them. Swim with dolphins at Western River Cove. Season November to end of March is best.
Winter ( May to October - dont bother -weather too changeable )
Late Spring -Summer and early Autumn days warm to hot ( 20 to 35C) nights usually cool. Bring a sweater for cool nights.
Quite a large island ( 160 km long up to 60 k m wide. One main town, 3 small villiages. Total population about 4200. Lots of wild life, native bush. Some dirt roads. Sealed roads go around most of the island
Two airlines fly daily from Adelaide ( 30 minute flight)multiple flights.
Ferry service to Penneshaw. Passengers and cars.
Accommodatrion in main towns. Quite a few B&B and Farm Stay.
Hire cars available at Kingscote and Airport.
Good land based interests- seals , sealions, Remarkable Rocks, caves, National Parks, bird watching, salt water aquarium and pelican feeding at Kingscote, penguin tours at night,fishing, clean sandy beaches, some good camp grounds. Most people very friendly and helpful
