Down South from Manila city, there’s a popular place teeming with beaches and dive sites.

Batangas is a popular source of barako (rich coffee beans) coffee and jusi and piña embroidered crafts. Batangas is blessed with natural attractions like wonderful beaches, scenic views of hills, mountains including Taal Volcano and submarine gardens.

Apart from the natural resources, Batangas is also tourist-friendly because of its proximity to Manila city and the excellent condition of the roads.

Batangas is home to Apolinario Mabini, one of the country’s national heroes. Visit historical attractions like the Mabini Shrine and the General Malvar Museum and Library.

Anilao, Batangas, Luzon’s premier dive destination, is just a 2 hours drive from Manila. Only 140 kilometers from Manila, Anilao proximity makes it a popular destination for weekend diving trips. Excursions to this southern town are ideal because the resorts are situated within short boat rides to excellent dive sites.

Diving is mainly in coral slopes and shallow gardens among sandy patches. Choose from any of the 40 plus dive sites between the coast of Anilao and Maricaban Island. For more detailed dive sites information, please visit www.scuba1.net The most popular site is the Cathedral (average of 60ft), a roofless cavern with a blessed cross flanked by two large sea mounts. The cross was blessed by the late Pope John Paul II when he visited the Philippines in 1995.

Ideal diving season is from November until May.
