Just back from Flamingo Bay Water Lodge (part of Barra Reosrt), and it was fantastic! Manta's and Devil Rays almost every dive. Whale Sharks to snorkel and dive with! Even a Bowmouth Guitar Ray!! Yep, the best diving for big pelagic fish so far.

one of my faves, I've rarely seen such an amount of diversity. Humback whales, mantas, guitar hark, spanish dancer, dolphins, wide ange of nudibranches. September rocks, lots of waves, zodiac diving.

I loved Tofo. The diving was excellent and with a whole range of sites to choose from. Manta Reef was incredible but I equally loved Sherwood Forest - an oasis of tree coral! The lack of five star hotels makes it a bit rough and ready but that all adds to the fun and charm.

We've been working in diving full time for 8 years and have dived all over south east asia and the red sea, so we are used to pretty good diving. The diving in Tofo really blew us away. The variety was incredible, not only did we see more than 100 mantas and 15 whalesharks in two weeks, but the macro stuff was amazing. We saw frogfish, harlequin shrimps, at least 35 new nudibranchs, pineapplefish, leaffish, ribbon eels, honeycomb morays, octopus, leopard rays. The list just goes on! The reefs do not look spectacular from far away and consist mainly of sponges, but you can literally find something every meter. It took us ages to cover 10 meters because there was just too much to find. We'll definitely be back.

I recommend Tofo Scuba. Diversity is going through some difficulties.
Andy Shingler at Tofo was an excellent instructor.
Unlike the review above, I think all of Mozambique is challenging to get to. However, if you make the effort, particularly away from INhambane, Maputo and Bazaruto, then you get some fantastic diving without hoards of other people. I thoroughly recomment getting further north - pelagics decrease, but the coral and small life is many times better.

As per Gayle, the blue bottles were a problem and I would have appreciated vinegar on the dive boat.
