August 2009 Better if you have the use of a boat, but some great little shore dives if you get the tides right, some fish and crabs. West Wales divers were very friedly and helpful.

April 1998 Worst dive ever! After walking for ages fully kitted up, to dive in what was a quarry that now lets in the sea, was just a waste of time.

May 2008 We had some great shore dives from St Brides and Martins Heaven. The vis was spectacular and conditions were ideal - a real gem especially how crap the 2008 summer was. Lots of Spider crabs and Lesser spotted Dogfish/Small Spotted Catsharks. We'll be going back again next year to do some more diving here and around Skomer.

August 2008 Vis. was poor and the dive centers where unprofessional

May 2004 The Lucy is a classic wreck dive, a whole ship sat upright in 35m. The vis can be limited but it's a great dive and recommended for those with the appropriate experience.

July 2006 Diving has never really been easy here. It needs operators to be swifter and more focused in providing customer service. Prices are as high as anywhere.

October 2000 Due to prevailing winds we could only dive a sea water flooded quarry on the coast at Abereiddi. I could see about a foot through the murky water, wich was of a temerature to seriously worry a brass monkey. Not an experience I would choose to repeat, but if we'd had more favourable weather, who knows?

April 2006 Nice bay for easy diving. Sandy bottom, easy shore entry.

Wreck Dives:

Here are the wreck dives we know of for Pembroke.

Thomas Vaughn
Thomas Vaughan was a small iron steamer of just 645 tons, built by Backhouse & Dixon of Middlesbrough in 1871. The hull is broken down almost to the seabed to leave an outline of the perimeter of the ship and the cargo is spread around all about. Shallow enough for most divers, but requires experienced leadership.
20m / 66ft
50m / 164ft
Accidental sinking: 10-Jan-1882 Wreck penetration not possible Technical or decompression diving. More info...
