Rep. of Seychelles, the most beautiful archipelago excisting today about a hundred and fifty islands and most of them uninhabited. The garden of Eden.
Mahe, Seychelles biggest island and for all visitors their start off island.
Most dive centres on Mahe are located in the North of Mahe for the simple reason that the North of Mahe is populated with hotels. There is one dive centre on the East of Mahe not that far away from the airport. There is one dive centre in the South of Mahe where Seychelles still is as it was 200 years ago. The topography under the water line of all the inner islands of Seychelles is Granite and this forms beautiful sceneries underwater, look throughs, swimm throughs and hide-outs for marine life. The Marine life is very diverse and abundant, it varies from the blind pistol-shrimps to the biggest fish in the oceans the Whale-shark. Scientists return to Seychelles islands every year for new discoveries of marine species.
Seychelles diving is excellent for all type of divers the absoluut beginner to the well experienced diver.
Best time for diving in Seychelles is in the North-west season this runs from October through to April that is the time period that the sea state is mostly flat calm and visibility can run up to over 30 m. In the other months the South-easter winds prevails this causes rough sea states and limited visibility.
Seychelles is becomming famous for its whale-shark spotting these animals migrate the Seychelles in the plankton periods usually from July / August and October / November but best is to take this up with your dive centre.
Mahe is the start off for all visitors and island hopping is very popular and easy to do. Going around the islands is best done by rental car so bring your license both for diving and driving. Obviously there are also dive centres on the other islands like Praslin and La Dique.
