The Diving here is easy...unless the wind blows which being Malta it often does.

The Viz I have found varies but I would never class it as ever being bad. Quite a few dives around the Cirkewwa area, the most famous being the tug boat Rozi which sits in about 34mtrs. Available as both a shore dive and a boat dive the site can become quite busy due to the wreck being near enough intact and a nice easy introduction to wreck diving. Quite varying in depth along here too, you can visit the famous Madonna at about 18mtrs and the reefs stretch quite a ways with gulleys, walls, swim throughs all from about 38mtrs upto 5mtrs.

The usual suspects are here, eels, octopus, cuttlefish, scorpion fish and jellies but not in great numbers. I found winter quite a good time if you like wrecks and sites to yourself but a drysuit would be required, summer I manage in a two piece wetsuit for the deeper dives and a shortie for afternoon dives.

Cirkewwa is where the ferry sails to Gozo and so is quite isolated regarding Island life. There is one hotel, one cafe, one food stall and not much else for about 2 miles (more hotels)...apart from divers. There is a dive centre on the beach near the hotel and I found them very helpful and did most of my diving with them. It is a good base to be able to also dive Gozo and Comino from. Both highly recommended.
