Found Rangiroa exellent to dive. Was there in oct.2003 and oct.2005. Diving was much better due to weather in 2003 versus 2005. Oct.is also the slow season. 2005 was very windy and diving was only possible on the Tiputa side of Tiputa pass becouse of high waves. Less Reefsharks but more dolphin action approching divers. In 2003 we had large numbers of reef sharks and Mantas on every dive. Also Barracuda and fair size Napoleon Wrasses, green moray eels, and the usual reef fish.

Other then diving there is not much else to do. Perhaps day trips to a motu (little island in the lagoon).

Flights to Rangiroa are daily with Air Thahiti.

Starting about mid nov. the great hammerhead are comming (so I was told by the dive guides).

Reservation of accomodations is strongly recommended especially during ther busy times between may and sept.

Bottom line: it can be different depending on wind and weather.
