Lord Howe Island is 700 kilometers north-east of Sydney. You arrive there on a 36 seater Qantas Link plane to arrive on Lord Howe Island. I had heard that it is one of the most picturesque island groups in the world and it's true!

Lord Howe Island is a marine paradise. The marine communities are globally unique and contain thousands of tropical, subtropical and temperate species including some endemic species that are found nowhere else in the world.

The East Australian Current brings warmer water from the tropics which transports eggs and larve of many tropical marine species into temperate waters and it maintains water temperature above a level critical for coral growth and reef formation. The island boasts the most southern coral reef in the world.

The diving is very good. There are about 80 dive sites in the lagoon and around the island. The fish that is endemic to the area is the Ballina Angelfish which is found at Ball's Pyramid.

The island is seasonal so the best times to go are between October and May.
