Although Diving in Hastings isn't brilliant, the town is the perfect place to base yourself while diving around the Mornington Peninsula... Hastings is the gateway to wonderful dive sites such as Flinders, Mornington, Rye and Portsea. All these afore mentioned sites have a range of dive experiences, whether its be a casual dive under one of the piers, or a mission to collect abalone and crayfish that are abundant among the reefs that make up the surreal beauty of the ocean beach dives.

The marine is too diverse to mention it all here, but there are thousands af marine species to see; Southern Blue Devil fish, the rare 'Weedy Sea Dragon', a huge variety of wrasse and damsel fish species, many species of skates and rays and if you're lucky the occassional Bottlenose Dolphin or Australian Fur Seal!

There are also several shipwrecks to investigate for divers who hold the Advanced Open Water qualification, with wrecks ranging in depth from 20-70 metres.

Diving is most comfortable during the summer months when the water reaches 19 deg Celcius but for the adventurous diver, it is an area that can be visited all year round with an avergae of 300 diveable days each year
