Merimbula is a lovely small town on the Sapphire Coast - half way between Melbourne and Sydney. The diving is on reefs or wrecks, from boat or shore. The town is a popular family holiday place so there are lots of other activities and beautiful beaches. A coastal climate means it's rarely too hot or too cold. Water temperature from 14 - 22 celsius. Diving on popular wrecks - Empire Gladstone a natural wreck and two tugs sunk especially for diving - Henry Bolte and Tasman Hauler.
Divers will always see lots of fish, and Weedy Sea Dragons are a popular species to view. Rays and sharks are common. Whales pass close to the coast in October and November and are easily seen from the shore or boats.
There are a lot of accommodation places - the Merimbula Divers Lodge offering budget lodge style.
Travel to Merimbula by car, bus or fly from Sydney or Melbourne.
