Rarotonga is a relatively unknown Dive destination, all the diving is shore based boat diving with excellent visibility and great local guides. the preferred diving is on the south side of the island or next best the western side. the northwern or town side is used mainly for training dives. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and also a lot of good shopping is available. There is easy access from LA and Auckland plus some from other island states. Air New Zealand and Pacific Blue between them provide several flights daily. The Corals are mostly hard corals, there are swim throughs and some caverns and lots of colourful tropical fish. Rays and bigger fish are more common on the southern coast, it is a bit further to get to the Dive sites in this area and not all the operators go there. Humpback Whales are seen commonly from July to October. power is 240 volt with NZ fittings.
