Wraysbury is essentially a training centre for Open Water divers in the South East of England, or for those who like fresh water diving and live too far from Stoney Cove.

Located in a reservoir near the flight path of Heathrow airport, it contains a dive centre, a relatively small lake cordoned off for divers in one area and water skiing in another.

I qualified in Jan 1998 for my PADI Open Water. I didn't have particularly fond memories as the water temperature then was 3 degrees and the dry suit I was using had a leak!!! Summer months can see you into the early 20's.

Visibility can vary from acceptable (10 m when nobody is kicking up the silt) to less than 2 feet. Over the years the owners have added various 'wrecks' such as the chassis of a mk 1 golf among others.

Marine life is restricted to smaller fresh water fish, but then that's not the reason why you'd go there. Max depth is relatively shallow (I may be wrong but I don't think you can go much deeper than 14m).

I'd recommend this site for training or refreshing, or for those who find it difficult to get to the coast and want to keep their knowledge up to date.
