Chichiriviche de la Costa is a beautiful bay about two hours from the International Airport close to Caracas. An SUV is usually the best way to get there because the road is no good at all. It is well known because its water is clear almost all year around and all types of diving can be done there. It is the best place to learn to dive. I have been diving there for almost 20 years now, and never get tired of the place. You can dive from shore, entering from both sides of the bay, I like the right side better. We usually swim to the 'punta' or the end of the mountain and go down there and then dive back to shore. Big fish can be seen there, as well as coral. At 23 mt there is an Jesus image that we always have to visit, and at 30 mt there is a plaque from the PDVSA diving Club. There are also many lobsters that can be seen during night dives.

Diving in the left side is shallower dive, but if the water is really clear you can feel that you are in a fish tank. Also in the middle of the bay very deep diving can be done. There is a place at 60 mt, called Groupers Eden, where very, very big groupers can be seen.
There are two dive operators in Chichiriviche, and boats can be taken to diving sites in other bays, or just to the 'punta' if you don't feel like swiming.

There is one hotel and several guest houses where you can stay at very reasonable prices. Good food can also be found and the town people are very friendly. At night time sometimes (saturday nights) are parties in town and people goes there to dance 'tambores' - a dance that follows a drum rhythm.
