The Turneffe Islands (along with Lighthouse Reef) are the place to dive in Belize. The diving around San Pedro is only OK and it takes forever and a ton of money to get to Turneffe from San Pedro. Stay on Turneffe or Lighthouse and dive Turneffe or Lighthouse. The walls are spectacular, the coral is gorgeous, visibility is great, and the environment is pristine. There are way more fish out here than near San Pedro. You'll see every Caribbean reef critter you can think of as well as turtles, several types of shark, spotted eagle rays, stingrays, dolphins, jacks, tuna, and other big pelagics. Turneffe is not to be missed!
