La Palma is not Micronesia or like the Maldives - but still there are water temperatures of up to 25° C during summertime and still a minimum of 18° C during the winter. As well you don’t find the masses of colours an big fish like in the Red Sea or the Indian Ocean for example... But this small island in the Atlantic Ocean with its great visibilities under water is a very recommendable option for divers!
For most divers the underwater scenery is the highlight of La Palma: the volcanic landscape of the surface continues below zero so you can explore walls, grottos, canyons and tunnels. With according experience as well caves and chimneys.
You can find manifold marine life like schooling fish, barracudas, groupers, trompet-fish, moray eels, sting- and eagle rays, with lots of good luck even manta rays, turtles or sunfish.
Better even when you like the “small stuff” as well – with a good eye you’ll see nudibranches, sea hares, scorpion fish, flounders, octopuses and sepias.
On the surface this island, the so called 'Isla Bonita', offers many options for several activities like mountain biking, trekking, horse back riding, and more. You'll find hundreds of web sites with detailed information about anything on La Palma.
