Fantastic dive location, warm water 34 degrees c!! and excellent vis. All diving appears to be run by the same company (due to communism in Cuba) and they are not as professional as dive centres in the uk.
I did 4 dives in total, two on the shore reef just off of Varadero a wreck dive @ 34m and reef dive @ 12m on the way back from the wreck dive. If you are an experienced diver Cuba is the place to dive. As a novice with only 6 open water dives under my belt I was told the instructor would stay with me. I was confident (but not compitent in hindsight!!) and did 2 reef dives to satisfy the instructor that I could actually dive. Then did the wreck dive in a group of 5. The instructor led from the front and appeared to ignore my efforts near theend of the dive regarding my air situtation, eventaully surfaced with 25 bar in the tank having joined another group on my own initiative to perform a deco stop.

Boat used was good fast hard boat with easy entry/exit. Also very cheap - the more dives you do the cheaper it gets - I paid approx £12 per dive including all the kit hire!!!!!

Loads of fish to see - Jacks, Barracudas, Tuna plus other species too numerous to mention

Great water, great conditions, but with hindsight not a place for the beginner
