Situated in the North west of Cyprus about 40km North from Paphos the crystal clear waters of the Akamas provide divers with enjoyable easy diving.

Dive around St Georges Island with depths to suite everyone from the 3-4m swim throughs with the sunlight cascaging through the water to the wall that starts at 18 and finishes at 30 meters. For the more technical, you can go deeper with an array of gullys below 40m. Look for the Roman stone anchors at around 45m or sneek a peek at the small cavern at 10m. Just around here you could spend a week exploring but note this is a boat dive.

Moving in and up the coast try the more sedate gullies of St georges reef with it's swim throughs again cascading with light. Further on up try the gental ward of Photiadies (also known as the Amphitheatre). Progressing up the coast is the Blue lagoon ideal for begginners with all that sand and the small island to potter aroun in 6m. MOve up the penninsula futher and dive Fontanna Amorosa max depth14m along and around boulders and gullies. Up to the tip of the Akamas to Black rock similar to diving Fontanna but a little more picturesque.

Then it's to the mostly submerged island of Mazaki with genltle 5-8m on the penninsula side and around 20m on the Northern side with again gullies and some swim throughs. All along the peninsula you may come across tutles especially during the breeding season mainly through June july. Keep your eyes out for the odd dolphin as they have been know to make the odd appearence.

There are a number of good dive operators both in the town of Polis and down at the harbour of Latchi. Most of the diving is from boats ,but having said that for the more adventurous of you a trip with a 4*4 along the peninsular for a touch of shore diving, that will give you a different perspective of the coastline. For the non divers there is sandy and stoney beaches to relax on and a lot of small coves on the peninsular to enjoy but only with 4 wheel dive. There are alot of watersport activities, everything from hiring a small boat for half a day or a day to waterskiing, jetski's sailboats and the list goes on.

For those who would like something a little more scenic then through november to April take guide walks across the many trails through the Akamas enjoy then many wild flowers which can only be found in cyprus. Stop off and enjoy the many local tavernas and bars of Latchi, Polis and the surrounding areas. If you enjoy a glass or two of vino then try the local wineries up in Kathikas and the surrounding areas.
