San Carlos is located on the mainland Mexico side of the Sea of Cortez in the state of Senora. It is accessable via a very good 4 lane highway from Tucson. The diving there offers something for every level of diver from casual cove dives to sea mounts with heavy current. I have had the opportunity to dive several locations during the summer months, where the water temp averages 82 degrees and the winter months, where the water temp is around 63 degrees.

This is a very salient body of water and you will find weighting to be heavier than usual but the aquatic life is so diverse and prevalent it will provide you with the opportunity to explore the whole Baja fish identification card and then some. The area has whale sharks, manta, spotted and sting rays an abundance of eels and grouper along with a great assortment of tropicals. Night diving is great as well, with octopus, lobster and urchins on the move.

The dolphin, whale and sea lion population is very abundant and there are Aztec ruins, golf, sailing and fishing available along with some fantastic restaurants and good taco stands.
