Saba is a rugged mountaintop rising out of the ocean, surrounded by deep ocean pinnacles. Fly into the shortest commercial airfield in the world, navigate the windy roads to the town of Windwardside and stay in one of the picturesque cottages for the best lodging. Good restaurants are easy to find at this town at the base of the mountain. The commercial dock is a twenty minute van ride to board a dive boat for the short trip to the west end of the island. Diamond Rock rises from the ocean, and the pinnacles lay 120 ft below. Along the shore excellent dive sites abound for a second dive. The reef health is excellent, there are lots of little critters and reef fish. We saw a few sharks, no rays, but plenty of fish life. No beaches, but Saba has great hiking. Hard working inhabitants save every drop of water in cisterns attached to each house, and all the properties were pristine. Visit the bead making factory.
