Originaly called the 'Scarlet Ibis' this is the wreck of a 90 Metre roll on-roll off car ferry which was sunk in 1997 after being made diver friendly ready for its' new life as a diving attraction. Maximum depth is around thirty metres and can be subjected to strong currents.

I dived this site at Christmas 2005 with Derek Chung from 'Undersea Tobago' who are based at the Coco Reef Resort. Sadly I was disappointed with the poor visibility, infact Tobago at that time of year has provided the worst caribbean visibility that I have experienced. The Atlantic meets the Caribbean at the southern tip of Tobago, this is then joined by fresh water from the Orinoco river resulting in often murky conditions. Dont let this put you off visiting Tobago as these water conditions attract large pelagics (sadly not when I was there) also it is a beautiful island.

The wreck itself is smothered in hard and soft corals, and is frequently visited by Spotted Eagle Rays and Nurse Shark, it is also home to a large Grey Angelfish. The inside of the wreck is easily accessed and an exit route is always clearly visible when inside the hold area, I didn't enter the engine rooms although I believe that they are accessible (With Care). The stern of the wreck is showing signs of age with the rear door area starting to collapse, this area has become a hazard to divers.

Tobago is a lovely island and the Coco Reef Resort is one of the best places that I have stayed at in The Caribbean, don't let the prospect of poorer visibility stop you from visiting the Island as it can have advantages, particularly during Manta season.
