La Paz is a sleepy little town on the coast of the Sea of Cortez. There are several dive centers available and some live-aboard boats that sail out of here. There are flights from LA and other US cities. You can also fly in to Cabo San Lucas and hire a car for the 3 hour trip to La Paz. Accommodations range from the sublime to the ridiculous, so check carefully before you book.

The Sea of Cortez changes with the seasons. During early June, the whale sharks are in. During February and March, the whales are there. They get Blue whales, Finback whales, Grey whales, and every other variety you can think of. The sea lions are always here.

The sea lions are at Las Islotes. It is a large rookery and always populated with sea lions and occasional elephant seals. It's a hoot to have them join you on your dive.

Another famous dive site is El Bajo. This is a sea mount where hammerheads are frequently seen.

Other dive sites are covered with warm water species like angels, triggers, butterflys, etc.

With the pleasant atmosphere, the warm water, and the good diving, La Paz is highly reccommended.
