August 2016 All in all the trip was a long journey to see macro life....mostly nudibranchs. I loved some of the critters, but the trash in the area, both topside and beneath the water is really depressing. Food at the resort was good for the most part, rooms were OK, nothing fancy.

October 2005 I particularly wanted to improve my photographic skills and the Phillipines were the perfect place to do this. If you want to see frogfish, this is the place to go!

October 2006 This was my first diving trip to the PI and I know now that I will go back many more times. I traveled with the owner of Micronesia Divers Assoc. Pete Peterson to assist in making a video. Diving was spectacular as was the night life around town.

June 2007 Excellent diving, the majority of dive sites are within a few minutes boat ride from the harbour. Frog Fish, Pygmy Seahorses, Cuttlefish, and lots of nudibranchs

November 2006 Did my Advanced Open Water with a group of students from my school. LaLaguna Beach Resort instructors were fantastic. Had 16 typhoons before our arrival so a lot of coral damage. Very focussed on diving and not a family tourist resort. Great weather and enjoyed the diving with the Canyons and Hole in the Wall being the highlights. Good place for school groups.

Wreck Dives:

Here are the wreck dives we know of for Puerto Galera.

Alma Jane
Ranked as OK by independant reviews Ranked as OK by independant reviews
Situated off Small LaLaguna Beach just a few minutes from Action Divers, Alma Jane was scuttled in March 2003 and settled upright at a depth of 30 meters. Her upper decks are at a depth of 22 meters where divers can enter the wheelhouse and cargo holds below decks.
22m / 72ft
30m / 98ft
Deliberately sunk: 03-Mar-2003 Wreck penetration is possible. Technical or decompression diving. More info...
Diver reviews for Alma Jane:
Alma Jane was pretty good with healthy diversity of sealife. The little swim through is nice but watch your bouyancy and direction as you can easily come within 1m of Lionfish. Frogfish are present, as well as can be a train of divers. This wreck is a bit deeper than Sabang Wrecks and accessible for people certified beyond 18 meters. I did not see Sabang Wrecks on the pull down menu so I will cover that a bit. This was a very enjoyable dive for me and I was impressed with the diversity of marine life and the healthiness of the hard and soft coral although it is immediately in Sabang Beach where boat traffic abounds. All positive comments on this site are not over exaggerated. Frogfish, possible Scorpionfish, Pygmy Sea Horses on the Sea Whips as you head to the shallow reef. One of the best shallow wreck dives I have done. Well worth the $22 USD entry price!
