Liveaboards in the Norther Red Sea are a good way to get away from the diving crowds of Sharm and Hurghada. They go to many spots that the day boats don't get to. If you are going to Sharm for the first time, the day boats are fine (although I couldn't recommend the day boats out of Hurghada... there dive sites seemed pretty beat up). If you plan to visit Sharm more than once, or are making a big trek to get to the Red Sea, consider a liveaboard. One little dive spot I like is called Shag Rock. It has a small wreck (no penetration) and it is surrounded by lovely coral gardens. Small Crack is also a nice little site (particularly when the current is running into the lagoon.)

My first liveaboard on MY Oriana. The diving was a revalation and had a great trip. All the usual Northern Wrecks and a school of 30+ hammerheads.
