November 2000 We visited Guanaja about 18 months after it was devastated by an extremely ferocious huricane that pummeled the island for several days. Although the island was still recovering from extensive huricane damage, we found the diving to be wonderful. The reefs were quite healthy ecologically, storm damage notwithstanding. Opportunities abounded for experiencing this relatively intact ecosystem, ranging from very captivating snorkeling to very deep wall dives, with so much to see and experience at nearly every location. Macro life forms were very abundant and varied.
