October 2004 If your into Wreck Diving then this is the place to go. Visability outside the harbour 20m+, inside could be as little as 5m. Lots of other things to do besides Diving, walking, mountain biking, climbing, kyaking to name but a view. We had a great time and found the locals both very friendly and helpfull with everybody able to speak excelent English.

Wreck Dives:

Here are the wreck dives we know of for Alesund.

Konsul Carl Fisser
The wreck sits on the bottom, in a moderate slope and the stern as the shallowest point. You meet the stern at about 18 meters. Its midships were you get the best part of the wreck, there is a great deal of marine life here too. The depth here is from about 30 meters to 35 meters, there are also good opportunities for penetrating around that area. Because of the large dimensions you need to have a couple of dives to get to know your way around. The Bridge has a depth on about 32 meters and its possible to penetrate there, but its starting to fall apart. If the visibility is good you can penetrate the bridge and look all they way to the bow. On the bow the depth is 42 meters, its not so much to see around that part but its still worth a dive.

Accidental sinking: 03-May-1942 Wreck penetration is possible. Technical or decompression diving. More info...
