September 2012 Visibility not so good at shallow depths but clears up nicely when you go deeper. Lot's of small to medium size fish at Arnos Vale

December 2011 Diver's Dream, Diver's Thirst, Maverick, a couple of dives in Speyside. Fish galore, lovely coral. No strong currents this time, although in the past they have been stronger. Very few divers around at the moment so I had the sea to myself. The last dive was the best - SS Kioto. (See below: I couldn't work out how to add the name to it !)

December 2011 Torpedoed, shelled and bombed in 1942, so very broken up in 10m. The bow, stern, propellers, rudder, engine and boilers are still visible, together with unexploded bombs ! Many nurse sharks, giant barracuda, rays etc etc made this lonely site the best dive of a great week.

October 2010 Runoff from the Orinoco meant the top five metres were like green soup, and 33c, but underneath it was 29c and far better. Noticeable coral bleaching this year - time will tell how it recovers.

June 2003 Lots of good sites here, loads of fish and decent coral.

December 2005 Slightly dissapointing visibility, but plenty of life and good drift dives

November 2006 Loved it - visibility not always great due to Orinoco

August 2006 Low vis at times due to Orinoco flow. Great thermoclines, good diving rather than spectacular. Adverture Eco-Divers highly recommended outfit.

Scarlet Ibis (M V Maverick)
Ranked as OK by independant reviews Ranked as OK by independant reviews
Sunk in April 1997, the MV Scarlet Ibis, later renamed the MV Maverick, is a 108 metre (350ft) auto ferry that spent its first life carrying passengers, vehicles and cargo between Port of Spain, Trinidad and Scarborough, Tobago.
17m / 56ft
31m / 102ft
Deliberately sunk: 01-Apr-1997 Wreck penetration is possible. Technical or decompression diving. More info...
Diver reviews for Scarlet Ibis (M V Maverick):
Easy dive, although current and visibility can be variable. Good cover of soft coral now. Easy and safe access to various decks, and if you are few in number and have reasonable buoyancy control the engine compartment is worth a visit. 30m deep, so watch deco time.

Marker buoy gone, so difficult to find the wreck. However, quite a good dive

This was a great wreck dive. We did our dives with Wild Turtle Dive - the first one was a slow deep dive to the bottom and keel...the nest dive was to the deck level only and we leisurely swam around it. Do on calm days and expect to see lots of encrustation and possible penetration.

Saw very little as the swell made vis nil. Very easy to pentrate though and there is a decent amount of fish life.
