The steamship ss suddhadib (also known as hardeep wreck) was built in Hong Kong in 1918 for the East Asiatic company and named after princess suddhadib of Thailand.
During WW2 Thailand became allied with Japan , and the Japanese took control of the vessel using it to carry oil from Singapore to Bangkok.
At 0600Hrs on 1st June 1945 2 squadrons of RAF Liberators from India carried out a bombing raid and sunk the vessel.
Diving the ss suddhadib is usually done from the thai port of Samaesarn about 1.5 hours drive from Pattaya.
The vessel lies at approx 28m and is very badly broken up, though careful penetration can be achieved.
