Hyères is a town of about 50000 inhabitants.
Les Îles d'Hyères (The Hyères Islands) are Porquerolles, Port Cros, and Le Levant.
Diving is well develloped with a number of dive center along the coast facing these isles, from Hyères to Cavalaire sur mer.
There are wrecks and scenic dives. There are sites accessible to everyone, including wrecks and pass through. However, some wrecks are very deep (>40m), but the french don't mind 15 min decompression, you need the proper training though.
Porquerolles is the biggest, closest to Hyeres. Port Cros and Le Levant a bit further, very close to each other.
Port Cros is a Marine National Park (The only one in France I think). This means dive responsibly!! This also means no fishing allowed, no mooring (except the official ones) or anchor, and loads of fish!!!
Groupers, Barracudas, Octopus, 'Cigalle de mer', Congers, cuttle fish, etc... in numbers.
