March 2009 This is a very cool shallow dive. Depth was 24 ft which allowed plenty of bottom time. Wreck is spread out with lots of life to photograph.

August 2006 Some good dives, but they were all short dives (max 45 mins) irrespective of air consumption - Mermaid Divers did not cater for people with more experience - a pity!

June 2005 apart from diving, can enjoy yourself for a couple of days touring island in 4x4, and lots of nice resturants for evening meals.

June 2005 as stated above, good wreck diving, easy diving, not too deep, took my 14 year old, can get kind of rough on the boat at times, went with Mermaid Sport Divers, good outfit.

June 2005 Good easy diving, plenty of wrecks in good condition, ideal for novice /casual dives. Plenty of wildlife and good dive centres.

Wreck Dives:

Here are the wreck dives we know of for Aruba.

Antilla
Ranked as OK by independant reviews Ranked as OK by independant reviews
The largest wreck in the South Caribbean, the Antilla, was a German freighter confiscated at the start of World War II. The German crew opened its valves and let it sink rather than be confiscated. This is a very popular day or night dive site, where everything that lives under the sea can be seen. You can pose for a photograph in the Captains bathtub, which lies beside the wreck.

Deliberately sunk: 01-Jan-1940 Wreck penetration not possible Technical or decompression diving. More info...
Diver reviews for Antilla:
Did a day dive and a night dive on this one. The hull at night is in bloom with orange coral....pretty cool. Also saw a huge eel nail a lobster.Churned up the whole area. Another cool siting

Visibility a bit iffy due to the large number of divers. Best go first dive in the morning before the madding crowd. Wreck penetration is OK for advancded divers.

California
The fascinating wreck of the California is located at a depth that is ideal for underwater photography. The wreck is surrounded by large coral formations and by an abundance of tropical fish. Because it is located in the dangerously choppy water and strong currents of the islands windward side, the wreck of the California is only for advanced divers.

Accidental sinking: 23-Sep-1891 Wreck penetration not possible Technical or decompression diving.

Pedernales
Ranked as not very good by independant reviews
The wreck of the Pedernales, an oil tanker torpedoed by a German submarine during the last World War, is a paradise for beginning divers. The wrecks several large pieces are spread out between coral formations, making visible the complete wreck cabins, wash basins, lavatories, etc., as well as the tankers pipeline system. The wreck of the Pedernales was cut into three pieces by the U.S. military during the war. The center piece, damaged by the torpedo, was left behind, and the two endpieces were towed to the U.S. and welded together into a smaller vessel. The new ship was a part of the Normandy invasion fleet. The area around the Pedernales wreck is known for its many types of groupers and its bounty of angel fish.

Diver reviews for Pedernales:
it is not easy to see that this was a ship, but the fish and coral are good
