June 2009 Dived with Fathom & Blues. The M2 at a depth of 30-38 mtrs is a fantastic dive site with loads of conga eels. The M2 is also a war grave and as such should be treated with respect.

August 2006 This is a good loaction for diver trainging and RIB work in salt water. The sea temp was a nice 18C, loaction is stunning and loads of nice places to eat. Great.

June 2003 Dived off Tango, my favorite dive boat. Great dive deck, large warm cabin and plenty of tea and hot cross buns. The Aeolian Sky is a 10,715 ton freigter wrecked in 1979 and is a great dive.

July 2006 Some very strong currents outside the harbour wall. Good diving but only had one day and need to get back. Good area for the boat and hanging out. some well equipped dive stores all within walking distance.

November 2003 Good place for the open water part of the PADI Open Water Diver course. Can also do the Advanced Deep Dive here. If you catch Spider Crab mating season, it's fabulous.

July 2006 One of the best places I have dived in Britain. Nice helpful locals and fellow divers.

June 2004 Best to dive from far end of the beach closest to portland. However can be choppy and therefore hard to exit. Entry and Exit is over a huge mount of pebbles. Divers must be very fit. Good diving overall with good visibility. However you may have to drive to get air.

September 2006 We booked on-line with divedorset.com, which proved very easy. The set-up for divers must be one of the best in the country.

Wreck Dives:

Here are the wreck dives we know of for Weymouth (Portland Harbour).

Aeolean Sky
Ranked as Awesome by independant reviews Ranked as Awesome by independant reviews Ranked as Awesome by independant reviews
The Sky as she is known locally was a Greek container vessel weighing 14385 tonnes. After colliding with another vessel in the middle of the English Channel in 1979 she limped, whilst taking on water, to shore but off St Albans Head she finally gave up and sank. The Sky is a very large wreck and although subject of much salvage work is still very recognisable. Lying on her port side the stern and rear accommodation area are relatively intact and stand some 12 metres. There is much evidence of her cargo within the wreck and strewn across the seabed. This is a great dive especially for those new to wreck diving but strong tides and variable visibility make local knowledge essential for a good dive.
18m / 59ft
30m / 98ft
Accidental sinking: 04-Nov-1979 Wreck penetration not possible Technical or decompression diving. More info...
Diver reviews for Aeolean Sky:
A very big wreck needs a few dives to get head around how big it is, a long way out and can be rough.

This wreck is large, you can easly end up inside it without noticing but in good viz and with a good skipper just can't be beaten. Had 20m viz in August 03, 2m viz in April 04, 8m viz in May 05. At 32m would recomend Sports Diver or Advance Open Water divers do this wreck.
