August 2011 I was there with Pelagos Dive Centre (http://www.divecrete.com/) they were fantastic. Also did the night dive there, with 4 octopusses, a mooray and a lot of stonefishes and sea urchins.

August 2011 Nice site with 10 to 15 different species of fishes. A lot of nudibranches, and some debris from WWII (bullets and projectiles). There a Junkers 52 and a B-52 engines, as well a site (called explosion bay) with lot of cannon projectiles from WW2. I was there with Pelagos Dive Centre (http://www.divecrete.com/) which are fantastic....

September 2010 Dived with Blue Adventures Diving Centre in Xania. Good little dive shop with friendly and helpful staff although a little pricey (75 Euros for 2 dives). Dive site was a seriouis of underwater limestone caves, one called 'The Cathedral'. spectacular rock formations and exciting swimthroughs (although some divers were apprehensive, curiously). Not a fish to be seen - all on restaurant plates, I fear. I understand that there is some great wreck diving, but I was unable to get to see any - next time maybe. Overall the experience was OK - bath water to dive in (28 degrees) and very clear (25m vis), but disappointingly lifeless.

July 2007 lots of sea life - very enjoyable - and some old WWII debris

September 2007 Diving in Crete is 'challanging'. Because of overfishing not many fishes to see, but... when looking between the rocks I found some nudibranch, a lot of stonefish, baracuda and octopus are common. If you do not expect too much, you can have a lot of fun in diving here.

June 2007 Spent the first week over at Palakis staying in the Myrtis hotel (basic but clean) went diving at Kalypso rocks Palace dive centre where I learnt to dive in June2005, it is set in a spectacular small cove (see photos) with easy entry into the water and when diving you realise how far the cliffs go down. Second week went over and stayed at the Dias hotel (Great Little Hotel) not far from Atlantis dive centre and did one days diving with them at Bali, diving in Crete you normally get good visibility but the waters a bit cold 19 to 20°. Crete is a beautiful island and the people are fantastic as is the food and there is plenty to do when you're not diving.

October 2006 We have dived Crete before it only gets better each time we go. Now more sites are being opened to the public it is even better. We used Crete Underwater Center and they bent over backwards to be as helpfull as possible.

October 2003 Would not rush back to Crete for a holiday. Only did 1 dive during the week. Met some real nice people though that made up for the disappointing hotel. The week we were there was the last week of the Crete holiday season the staff at the hotel were packing up around us, not very nice

June 2005 Dived with the Crete Underwater Centre at Mirabello Bay - great bunch of guys!! 10 dives over 5 days, various sites - big wall dives, drifts, a small wreck... Not the Red Sea but nice and relaxed without crowds. The area is a no take zone so fish life is better than the rest of Crete; big Morays and Groupers at shallow depth, lots of small colourfull Wrasse and goatfish, Octopus everywhere and occasionally Dolphins and turtles. Excellent apres dive facilities (great bars and restaurants) and lots for non-divers too. Highly recommended and will be going back.
