The south coast of england is beautifull in character and charm, and the diving is good too. Lyme Regis is a small hustle and bustle fishing habour that lies in between Exeter and Weymouth.

The best way to get out there is by hiring a charter boat for the day between a few of you. The skippers really know their stuff here, more than anywhere else I've been in the world. If its wrecks you like you have come to the right place, they are everywhere. The diving is done by small fishing boats and RIBs, the dive sites are quite close to the shore 5 mins- 20 mins away. The currents can be strong, so make sure you are experienced enough. Dives are generally in the 15-30m range with visability around 8-15m, temp being 6 degs c in winter and 22c in summer. The fish life here is thriving, expect to see crabs, scollops, starfish, limpits, mussles, lobster, cod, pouting, whiting, dabs flounder, wrasse, and not to mention the conger eels (they are massive, up to 200lb, I've seen 40 on one dive before).

After the diving, resturants, shops, and bars are all here in all english style, the food is lovely. Many are around the habour itself. Nice beach for the kids in summer, with various activaties for all, hire a little sailing boat 12 years+, or go mackrel fishing!

Consider staying out of town. Try Sidmouth or Weymouth. In the summer this place gets packed. Book diving in advance if you can.

(tip : ask to dive the Heroine if you like congers. There's loads, one in each rib. In the wreck look for the biggie near the stern, he's getting on for 250lb. His head is the size of my waist.
