In the heart of this Caribbean community lies a full service marina, the only one of its kind between Cancun and Belize.

Restaurants and shops line the water's edge like an elegant Parisian sidewalk. Souvenir, clothing and craft stores are tucked alongside fishing boats and dive shops. dolphins and swimmers frolic in the lagoon.

Local dive operators can arrange trips with with professional guides to cenotes and dive sites nearby. Night dives are scheduled weekly and most scuba courses are available, with excellent instructors. The barrier reef is only 200 yards from shore and you can also go 'Whale Shark watching' between June and august.

There are several very pleasant hotels nearby and a selection of accomodation for those who prefer to cater for themselves.

The diving is varied and colourful with plenty of turtles, eels, rays, octopus and scores of reef fish, more than you will remember!!

On any given day, the first thing to catch your eye will be the dolphins splashing in the water waiting for the visitors to arrive.

A visit to the CEDAM Maritime Museum, displaying various artefacts and wreckage recovered from 18th Century shipwrecks, is also well worthwhile.
