Nice gentle 50 foot dive. Pipe was interesting place for fish to hide and coral growth.

Reef Pirates Diving provided the best diving experience possible. Christina and Will were exceptional.

Very cool dive, 2 wrecks side by side so this dive is a 2-for-1! Also cool to wave to the tourists in the Atlantis submarine that goes past. Saw almost a dozen huge green turtles & 2 white tip reef sharks.

Great dive. A bit rough of an entry is surf is over 2 feet, but still manageable. Be ready for a bit of current and surge any time of the year, even more so in the winter.
The area has a lot of great dives/reefs, and of course surfing, kayaking and more. It's Hawaii!!

A business trip gave me the unexpected opportunity to dive off Oahu. I chose AAA Diving based on a good review in 2006 Undercurrent Chapbook, informative website and responsive email. I was not disappointed. They have Waikiki hotel pickup and were on time at 7 AM every day. The boat, Elysium, is a newer 38 foot custom dive boat. It was never crowded and has a nice cabin area for protection from sun and wind. Egress and reentry is fast and easy. Divemasters accompany each dive. Alex (owner), Chris, and Kirsten were all knowledgable concerning sites and sea life. They were not overly controlling and left experienced divers more alone while tending to the less experienced. Restrictions were simple, no decompression and back on board with 500 PSI. They loan computers to divers without them for no additional charge. I dove 9 dives in 4 days, the 3 tank trip on Sunday was great. Water temperature was 75-76 degrees F, I was fine in a 3mm full suit with a vest underneath. Visibility was very good at 75-100 ft. The wrecks of the Sea Tiger, YO-257 and San Pedro were fun and deserve multiple dives for exploration. Some of the better reef dives included 100 Foot Hole, Turtle Canyons, and The Ledge. There were turtles on most dives and many species of Moray eel I had not seen in the Caribbean. Hawaiian reef fish were prolific including butterfly fish, wrasse, grouper, parrotfish, triggerfish and puffer. Each dive had some surprises including white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, octopi, leaf scorpionfish, amberjacks, frogfish, tiger cowries, or fantastic turtle cleaning stations. My diving experience in Oahu easily exceeded my modest expectations and I would gladly return if given the opportunity.

dived with a few local shops and they all seemed keen to get back to hang around doing nothing ! the two dives were done and back to shore by 12.
Very laid back atmosphere boardering on the dangerous. dive briefings were non existent. lots of dead coral due to bleaching - sharks and turtles galore ! best diving to be had if you are well experienced and dont need hand holding. dive guides will take you around better sites if they have as little looking after to do as poss.

Hanauma Bay is a good dive if you don't mind the trek down and up the hill. The visibility can range from 15-75' depending on time of year, wind velocity, and how far out from the beach you go (farther is better vis). The Bay is a sactuary so no fishing or take is allowed, so the fish are numerous and large. They are accustomed to snorkelers and divers so they usually do not shy away. The variety is good and past the wave break wall the reef is in good condition. It is big enough in area to cover in 2-3 dives, but don't forget to try snorkeling, because since the fish are so tame it is interesting to see them feeding so close to you. Closed on Tuesdays and subject to being full capacity often, so go early and enjoy.

I did a night dive at this great location. Two shipwrecks about 50 yards apart, in 85-100' of water. Good to do day or night. I have dived this site several times, because I live here, and I always have a good time and see a wide variety of different species of fish and inverts. Always at least a couple of Green sea turtles in and around the wrecks. Sometimes a White-tip reef shark hangs in or around. Visibility averages about 75', but it reaches 100+ sometimes in the cooler months.

Big island is absolutely beautiful (topside). Drive around the whole island...Well worth a couple of extra days.
Wyland store is great.
Amazing restaurants.
Night dive w/mantas is an experience you will NEVER forget!
Fish are huge & extremely friendly (bump right into you) when you snorkel right off shore in Kona, and turtles are everywhere.
Saw turtle cleaning station.

Probably the most famous of Oahus wrecks. It is small but definitely worth a visit since it is remarkably intact. It has been down since 1945 when the pilot ditched it after engine problems during an exercise. The propeller stands tall, although a bit bent, and makes for a good photo subject. It is possible to have a sit in the cockpit but sometimes it is well guarded by a huge moray. Some of the instruments and glass are still there. |

Has several swim-throughs and penetration possibilities, and eaglerays are often found circling the wreck. The Sea Tiger rest upright on a sandy bottom at 130 feet/40m, but dive depth is generally between 80-100 feet/24-30m. Apart from missing wood planks and some decay inside the wreck the Sea Tiger is very much intact. Popular swim-throughs include the cargo holds mid-ships and the bridge, which allow for easy entries and exits. |

Sunk in 1989 by the Atlantic Submarine company. The YO-257 doesnt offer too much in the way of penetration possibilities but probably has the most beautiful swimthrough of all wrecks in Oahu. You can swim through the whole stern and the inside is full of blue octocoral hanging from the ceiling and walls. |
