Having dived the best locations around the world over the last 5 years, I feel well qualified to say that Fakarava is the best of the lot, by a distance. The diving is advanced drift diving, really wild, like Rangiroa in spades. Pristine reefs. Countless fish in the passes and more pelagics in one dive than in the previous 5 years. You name it and its there, plus whales.

Tigers, Hammerheads, Silvertips, Grey reef, Black tip, White tip and Lemon sharks.

Nothing else to do but dive.

Very difficult to get to and very expensive but very worth it.

Only has two recognised sites but each day is different.

Combine with a few days on Bora Bora, Tikehua and Tahiti

We went in August and had a geat time.

The mosquitos ARE a problem.
