Aliwal Shoal accessible from Umkomaas approx 40km south of Durban. This is an amazing area to dive with dives sites such as Cathedral with its impressive arches and the Wrecks of the Produce and the Nebo. Famous for the ragged-tooth shark which populate the reefs from late May through to october. North and South Sands finds sand sharks, rays and dolphins regularly playing on the sand surrounding the reef. Also a great site to look for shark teeth during and after the season. North East Pinnacles has some towering reef formations which are to be seen to be believed. When diving Aliwal Shoal try and incorporate a trip to Protea Banks (Advanced Divers) to see sharks and plateaus of reef formation. Mantas abound in the Aliwal Shoal and can often be seen from the surface on the way to the dive sites.
Take a trip into Durban and see the UShaka Marine World and a have a dive in the Predator tank.
