Gozo is easy enough to get to, flight to Malta, a short taxi or bus ride to the ferry port and then a ferry to Gozo. It's a small island and I'd recommend hiring a car whilst you are there. We stayed in a hotel on a B&B basis, but when we go again (which we will, the diving is fab) we're going to go self catering. The island is small enough to explore in a day or so and is fairly quiet. The capital Victoria isn't that busy and if you are looking for any sort of night life I'd recommend Marsalforn. This is where most of the divers go. There are small restaurants dotted about the island which are easy enough to find.

Diving in Gozo is more about the amazing rock formations than the fish. Fish there are plentiful but cannot be compared to the Red Sea or Indian Ocean. We saw sea horses, flying gurnard, tuna (my newly qualified dive partner was shocked how big they are - because they come in a small tin..........!) octopus, star fish, pipe fish, groupers, baby damsel, jelly fish (not so many that it's a problem tho) and the list goes on. Diving at Xlendi bay to see the double arch is a must (pictures on google!) as is the Blue Hole in Dwerja. Though there are many many rock formations that are worth going to see.

Gozo is warm all year round, but I'd definitely recommend a full length 5mm wetsuit. I wore a shorty on my first day and my knees got a good battering when I tried to climb out of the water! Lesson learned!

A day trip to Comino is a good idea too, but be warned it can be full of tourists so go early in the day!
