El Gouna, has been described before as 'the brightest start on the Red Sea' and ' little venice' and anyone who has been there should be able to explain why,. El Gouna is a Town with several hotels and villas and appartments to cater for all different tastes and budgets, all set along the lagoons and islands with fantastic architecture and features.
El Gouna is a a clean and quiet resort, quiet in the sense that you will not hear minibus horns beeping the hole night outside your room window like so many other towns in Egypt.
El Gouna also offers access to the Northern dive sites often only covered on Safari boat itinaries, such as 'Gobal' and 'Siyoul' and access to the world famous 'Abu Nuhas' Wrecks of the Gihannis 'D', Carnatic, Chrisoula 'K' and Kimon 'M' (weather permitting) and most dive centres also offer trips to the world war II wreck of the Thistlegorm, and for those qualified to do so her less famous but certainly impressive sister ship the 'Rosalie Moller' along with may other stunnng reefs, suitable for beginners and experienced divers.
There is a wide range of marine life, but don't expect too many bigger fish and sharks, but there are good chances to have encounters with wild bottle nose dolphins, and great chances of seeing turtles, maybe even sea horses at some locations.
El Gouna is located just 20km north of Hurghada international airport which receives charter flights from all over europe.
As well as diving there are many other activities from Kite and windsurfing to quad biking in the desert, go carting and many more, along with a wide selection of national and international cuisine in great restaurants in super locations by the beach or Marina.
September October and November is the busiest time for divers as the water is at its warmest, around 29 but that means dive centres, and boats are full, maybe may and june is a nicer time to visit, as it is less crowdy, and the water still a reasonable 24/25.
