January 2008	I was shocked to see how badly the conditions at Crystal River had deteriorated since I had last visited 5 years previously. Invasive weeds were everywhere, houses had been built all around the springs on every spare bit of land and the combination of the two had made the water quality plummet. Crystal River is no longer 'crystal'. If it was being named right now it would be probably be called muddy pool. To top everything else off the operators seemed to show no consideration for the Manatees. Even the so called good operators were throwing punter after punter into the water even when there was clearly already too many people there. It was sad, truly sad. October 1998	Dived with the Manatees in Crystal River. It was back in 92 and 93 so I can't remember the name of the business. We rented a well maintained John Boat and dived in the springs that feed the river. Lots of Manatees then. Date posted: 15-Sep-2008 12:22 by: Pikapepper
