Dived from LeSport - got unlimited free shore dives with the all inclusive package. This one wasn't included, but it was worth every penny. Spectacular scenery above the water and just as good below. Really nice island to visit!

Some very strong currents in September making some sites unable to be dived, others we flew past on the current! Had great time diving with Scuba Steve despite this.

A superb island to visit. The diving was excellent and plenty to do when not diving. Of all the island I have visited in the Caribbean, this has to have the most dramatic scenery. We dived with East Caribbean Divers from Windjammer Landing and they were superb. Also try diving the Pitons, dramatic drop off!

Stayed at Le Sport (and would recommend it) - really enjoyed superman's flight (they filmed a section of Superman II here). The dive site is right beneath the nearly sheer face of the Pitons, which then drop straight down to 3000 metres. Great light and vis ... felt just like flying while underwater. A beautiful dive and a beautiful dive site.

I dived with Scuba St. Lucia and had a relatively good experience. I thought they were 'babying' us a little bit. (I'm a DM) but they were professional and had a nice operation

My boyfriend and I visited the Ti Kaye Resort in St. Lucia and went scuba diving with Island Divers of St Lucia during 1/12/06-1/22/06. The vacation was booked due to a nice conversation with Terroll Compton, the manager of the on-site dive shop and website pictures on www.tikaye.com (the resort) and http://www.islanddiversstlucia.com/ (the dive shop): Both website's pictures are really from the location and give an excellent description of the facilities, services, trips, scuba personalized and total costs.
The resort is secluded from the main roads but was nicely kept with lush landscape, beautiful ocean views, detailed cottages with comfortable beds with amenities such as a lovely hammock with a large pillow along with candles on the porch, lovely maid service with fresh flowers in the mosquito net around the bed (which apparently is mostly for looks as there wasn’t many when we were there). The atmosphere of the Ti Kaye Village is very romantic and relaxing with friendly staff and no children under a certain age (it was all couples while were we there). The rooms have an outside shower (all covered from anyone’s view) but they have plenty of hot water incase you like it warm or hot after a day of scuba. The food at Ti Kay: breakfast was a nice buffet as well as a menu to order from local dishes to the more usual morning eats, lunch at the beach café are great (suggest the spicy tuna sandwich with local chips for $6usd) or you can go to the main dinning area for lunch (which seems to be a set menu). Dinner requires reservations (not certain why as it’s the only place on the resort to eat – but we never had a problem sitting the time we wanted) but you get waited on by the friendly staff (like: Sonya, Cleus or Kim). The dinner menu changed each day as the chief, we later learned goes to the local market each day prior to work to pick up the fresh items, there is usually three choices of appetizers, main course and plenty of baked deserts or ice cream and sorbets. The dinner plates are well presented and usually contain a local type of spice, vegetable or fruit so it makes it interesting each night.
Now the reason we went to the resort to scuba dive in St. Lucia: The dive shop is located on the Anse Cochon Beach next to the beach café/bar. The staff is extremely accommodating, personalized, attentive, trust worthy and very good dive masters with your safety and bringing you to interesting sites and pointing out local fish, coral, etc. Call the dive shop even if you make the bookings with the resort – as the front desk apparently doesn’t understand scuba days when you want to dive – can’t answer basic questions and for us forgot to tell them that we booked an entire week of diving!!! Can you imagine going somewhere to dive and the person you booked with knows nothing… Our advise is to each diver is to talk directly to the dive shop at 1-758-456-8110.
They a few sayings in the shop “Its all good” (and it really is) and “Set it & forget it” which relates to your gear – they change the tanks, set up your gear, clean your equipment very well unless you want to do it yourself, hang it up to dry and lock it up for you at night. Now that’s a vacation without much work at all but plenty of excitement in the water. The dive plans are really up to you as the main dive sites are listed on http://www.islanddiversstlucia.com/divesites.htm or you can ask them their favorites. I also like that they are not cheap about driving out to a location not within their area as many scuba shops try to keep you in short distance to save on gas.
The guys in the shop are very respectful as well – this is very important to me as women diver, as I’ve felt uncomfortable on a few trips in Mexico and Honduras with the local dive shop guys and boat drivers hitting on me or making suggestions. Lady’s that dive most likely know what I’m referring to; however, nothing like this had happened there. If anything the guys, if you get chatting will talk to you about local sites, happenings and their families.
We had a very personalized dive trip (with no additional expense) as we were a small group in a boat that picked us up from the beach each morning for 2 tank dives, 1 tank afternoon and a night dive (if you’d like or set you your own schedule with the shop). The shop had two small boats at the time we were there, so we needed to do a back flip into the water, but they showed us pictures of their new boat currently being built and it’s a big dive boat with a head entry, nice sundeck, two ladders and a dry area for your stuff.
We had a great time diving with them and would go back to dive with them again next time we are in St. Lucia. We both decided to write this as it was really a nice relaxed time with great dives and they treated us like old time friends while we were there. So we decided to write up an EXCELLENT review of them as the shop is not well known on the web – in hopes to bring them more happy divers. Terroll's motto is simply “You folks are on vacation and should have no worries”, and he delivers.

A 165-foot freighter, was sunk by the Department of Fisheries in 1986 to provide an artificial reef. It lies upright in 60 ft of water near Anse Cochon on the west coast, just south of Marigot Bay. Divers can tour the ship in its entirety. |
