The archipelago of Bocas del Toro is made up of a small group of islands off the caribbean coast of northern Panama. It is accessed by either internal flights from Panama City or by road and water taxi from Costa Rica (the border is less than an hour away). Most of the infrastructure, including the dive centres, is located on Isla Colon

The reefs in Bocas Del Toro boast 74 of the 79 known types of caribbean coral and water temperature everages 30 degrees C year-round. The waters are inhabited by a large variety of tropical reef creatures including nurse sharks, sting rays and many species of crab and lobster - larger sepcies can be found on the deeper, offshore sites.

Diving conditions are great year round, especially for training, with the best times to visit being March, April, May, August, September and October – during these months sea conditions are flatter and clearer allowing access to the more remote dive sites.

Rainfall can affect visibility at certain times of the year but due to the protected waters of the archipelago the area is always diveable. Check with local dive operators for the latest sea conditions.

When you're not diving there are some great beaches located on surrounding islands - many of which you will be the only visitor to. Rainforest treks are also popular with those wanting land based wildlife encounters. Bocas del Toro town offers a variety of bars and restaurants for when the sun goes down until it comes up again!
