Pattaya and Jomtien is great for diving. I'm a bit biased as I did my first few dives here.

There are many small uninhabited islands off the coast here. They are quite close, about 45mins on the boat and have depths that vary from ankle deep to about 30m. The water is very warm most of the year and at times you don't even need a wet suit.

There is lots of underwater life including turtles and very colourfull fish of all descriptions. There are many English speaking dive instructors and the nightlife in Pattaya is also very interesting.

Once you get there it is all very cheap, once you have paid for the flight the rest is very cheap and probably one of the cheapest places to dive. The sea can get a bit choppy and the currents can be strong but otherwise a great place to dive.
