Diving is good on all sides of the island depending on the time of year, the west side is in general the calmest side with lots of great dive sites. Sites vary from 5 minutes to 45 minutes from the harbor and in the range between 25~100 feet deep. Visibility is generally in the 100~200 foot range and depending on the site the coral is pretty good although it does get hit by big surf during the winter months as the north shore does. The beaches are beautiful but don't leave valuables in your car, not much as far as eating and shopping there, stay in Honolulu for those or take a trip up to the North Shore.
