Las Grutas is the best resort of the Patagonian shore. There you can find the warmest and easiest waters of the region with sea shell beaches surrounded by cliffs.
The weather is good but dry in the summer with temperatures from 15 to 41ºC.
The water temperature is around 24ºC in the San Matias Gulf on the high season.
The sea has a deep blue colour and a high transparency because of the concentration of salt and iodine.
The inhabitants are 2500 people and the tourists are more than 100000 on the high season , from december to march.
This is a great place for diving because of the transparency of the water and the lots animals and plants you can find underwater.
In the spring until the end f the summer the seaweed begin to emerge and that’s a wonderful experience for divers.

The underwater visibility depends on the winds. When the northwest wind blows there’s the best visibility and that’s goes from 2 to 12 meters. This conditions are most found in the autumn – winter months.

In the underwater world you can find a lot of species of fish like sargos , meros , turks , salmons , blendicos , sea pigs & needle fish. There are shellfishes like clams , hermit crabs , mussels , oysters , seahorses , sea stars , scallops , cholgas. But the principal attraction are the sea wolves killer whales , grey dolphins , and humpback whales. Here you can more than saw the whales , here you can dive with the whales (legally aprooved this year).

The principal dive points are :

LA ISLA DE LOS MEJILLONES (Mussels Island)
PLAYA ORENGO (Orengo Beach)
PARQUE SUBMARINO LAS GRUTAS (Las Grutas Underwater Park)
