Swanage Pier, a great shallow location for a second dive or for training. The depth ranges around the 4-6 metre mark, with visibilty normally being sufficient to see the many different species.

Some of the species I've seen on my dives under the pier include Edible crabs and lobsters (only one lobster big enough to eat!), spider crabs, cuttlefish, various wrasse, Tompot Blennies and Snakelocks Sea Anemones.

The pier is often busy, and parking/access can be a nightmare. Try to get there early to get a good space on the pier for diving, unless you plan on walking down from the top carpark!

Many dive charter boats operate from the pier, making it a great place to go and do a popular wreck, such as the Kyarra at 28-30 metres, and then after a while, do the pier. It's teeming with life and is a nice laid back dive.

The only words of caution I'd add is to be wary of the fishermen at the end of the pier, thankfully they stay at the end of the pier, leaving the rest of it open to divers. There is also the old pier, that runs adjacent, a little way off, though as it offers less shelter for the wildlife, it has less wildlife!
