      How to get to Bahamas
[edit]
The Bahamas are incredibly easy to access from the UK. Albeit, there are only direct flights from London - as is the case with almost all Caribbean destinations - there a number of choices to choose from. The easiest is to fly with British Airways from Heathrow to either Nassau or Miami. Both flights are roughly 8 hours, give or take depending on direction of flight and weather. Flights to Nassau operate approx 4 times a week. Whereas the Miami flights are twice daily, every day.

Nassau: Once in Nassau, you can find connections to pretty much all the Out Islands of the Bahamas - and for those you can't then there is always the option to charter a small plane, not an unusual thing in the Bahamas and the cost isn't outrageous (starting from 200 for 4 people each way).

Miami: There are direct flights from Miami International (MIA) to both Nassau and Freeport. Alternatively, Ft Lauderdale International (FLL) is about 30min north where there are a number of scheduled flights to numerous Out Island destination.

Flights to Nassau will generally be more expensive - figure around 500 - 600. If you choose to go the Miami route you can find flights as cheap as 300 in the low season but can go up to 800 in the peak times. One thing to note is that if you do decide to head through Miami and Ft Lauderdale, you will need to plan to have a night there as the connections are too close to make.

Hope this is helpful.

What's the diving like in Bahamas
[edit]
Some great dives out here. Some very shallow, some very deep.
Snappers in abundance - if you take food down they will eat from your hand.
Lion fish have become common since some escaped from atlantis, and started breeding like rabbits!
Gracefull to watch, but dont touch.
Sharks are about too!

Chance of big fish in Bahamas
[edit]
good chance at some sites
stuart cove operates a feeding the shark trip regularly, in chain mail suits.
if you return after the feeding (leave it a few days) then the sharks see the boat, and circle the boat. you can safely get in, and swim with them. keep your hands into yor body, and dont try feeding them, or other fishies. seems like an obvious statement, but some fools tried this whilst i was there, and endangered us all.
they are elegant, and gracefull to see. a truly breathtaking dive
