      Top travel tips for UAE
[edit]
The West coast of the UAE offers very little for the discerning diver (Dubai, Sharjah, RAK and Abu Dhabi). Having said that there are a number of interesting wrecks an hours speed boat ride away from Dubai that are worth the trip.
The best diving by far off the UAE is on the East coast in Emirate of Fujeirah. There are some excellent hotels offering full diving services and most dives will be by speed boat, or for the adventurous a dhow trip up the East coast to the amazing and wonderful dive locations of Musandam (officially on Oman waters so a passport is needed). Great dives off Musandam -all usual tropical fish and frequent sightings of whale sharks.
Locally of fujeirah is Dibba Rock. World class diving offering schools of tropical fish, almost guaranteed dily sightings of Green bill turtles, black tip sharks, occasional Grey reef sharks, sometimes Whale sharks. In Fujeirah stay in o r near Khor Fakan in one of the fantastic new hotels.
Local Dubai or Abu Dhabi dive clubs offer daily excursions to Khor Fakan and Dhow trips up the wonderful Musandam. Enjoy!

Big Blue Planet knows about the following locations in UAE:

Abu Dhabi
Although not as well known or spectacular as the UAE's east coast, Abu Dhabi certainly has some very nice diving to offer, especially to west coast residents and holiday makers who fancy a day's diving without the 3 hour treck over to Fujeirah, Khor ...

Al Aqah/ Fujairah
We stayed at the Al Aqah Beach Resort, a very nice hotel in the middle of nowhere, in August 2005. The area we dived was unadventurous and fairly bland, visibility was poor at approx 2-3 mts. There seemed to be plenty of marine life but because of th...

Dubai / Ajman / Sharjah
You hear mixed reports about the quality of the diving in Dubai. It's a building site, the Viz is terrible, there's nothing to see. All these are common gripes. To be honest the diving in Dubai is not what it used to be, but the challenges mentioned...
