Chance of big fish in Ireland
The soutwest coast of Ireland offers great opportunities to dive or snorkel with whales, dolphins and seals. Basking sharks migrate through this area middle of May to early June and you can get very close up so bring your camera or video. They vary in size from 4-6 mtrs to 10-12 mtrs. Year-round there are sightings of minke and fin whales. Seals live year-round in small groups (Calf Islands, Long Island, Stags, Kedges & Fastnet Rock) and are well used to divers nearby so play hide & seek quite happily. Sunfish can be spotted normally between July and August and vary in size from 1 mtr to 2 mtrs (although can reach 3.5 mtr in diametre).
