What's the diving like in Maldives
Powerful currents mean drift dives - some of them very high speed ! Water temperature usually 29 degrees at 30m (max depth allowed by the state). Generally, each hotel/resort occupies one island, with the dive concession having the monopoly on diving from the island. Each island has its own dive sites, normally shared with adjacent islands, but these are rarely crowded. Black tip reef sharks, eagle rays, napoleon wrasse, turtles and mantas are commonly found in season.
