Dahab in Egypt Could do with some clean up dives every now and then, but overall a nice place to go. Will probably visit again

Eilat in Israel Nice to visit but quite limted number of dive sites
Date posted: 17-May-2008 11:48
Taba in Egypt The nicest dives were actually all situated close to the hotels, sandy botto with coral blocks. The life on these was amazing, quite a few Frogfishes, beautifull nudibranches, cleaner shrimps, etc. Use that macro lens for photograhy!

British Virgin Islands in Virgin Islands nice diving but not worth the trip to go there specially for diving. We had rented a sailboat for the vacation and did some diving while there.

St. Eustatius in Netherlands Antilles Nice diving, but it doesnīt beat Bonaire
Date posted: 24-Feb-2008 13:16
St Maarten in Netherlands Antilles quick dive on our way to Statia... OK says it all.
Date posted: 24-Feb-2008 13:22
Bodrum in Turkey do yourself a favor, don't dive here. Dive centers make their money taking people on for try dives. 'real ' divers are taken for a 40 minute dive and come up with some 100 bar left. Fish spotted on the 6 dives I've done: Beercanfish and cokecanfish in abundance, some car or boatbatteryfishes, plasticbucketfish. So my advice for people who do want go to Turkey, stay on shore and visit all the archeological sites, they're much nicer, even though they are strewn with litter as well...

Hurghada in Egypt Hurghada is ok, but I've been to nicer places. Make sure not to be there duirng the vaction seasons, it will be way too crowded..
Date posted: 13-Oct-2007 11:32
Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt Sharm is overcrowded. If you like observing other divers rather than corals and fish, this is the place to be. I can strike Ras Mohammed of the list, been there, done that never again...

Bonaire in Netherlands Antilles The ultimate place for relaxed diving for me. Nobody to contend with, you just drive to where ever there is nobody and dive. Nice and relaxed, plenty of nice restaurants downtown, super diving, what more do you want..?

Khor Fakkan / Fujairah in UAE 2 dives on the East Coast, poor viz(3m). 4 dives Mussandam, reasonable viz (10-15m)and much more interesting. Dive Mussandam if you have the option.
Date posted: 25-Dec-2005 11:18
Mussandam in Oman much better than East Coast diving, better visability and much more dramatic divesites.

El Gouna in Egypt If you want a nice relaxed vacation without the hassle of the cities like Sharm or Hurghada, this is one of the places. Clean, friendly and the facilities are excellent (including their own hospital with deco chamber). TGI has special rates when prebooking through their web site, www.tgidiving.com.

Sodwana Bay in South Africa Sodwana was nice, diving with big waves that make for tricky photography (waves are moving you some 3 to 4 meters back and forth, left and right). The waves were actually the most exciting thing about Sodwana and definitely a thing to experience. The marine ife was quite poor when I was there, but this was probably due to the rough sea conditions at the time. Corals are plentifull but the variety is not that big. Atmosphere on the beach was great. Be prepared to get up early in the morning for diving, they start as early as 06:00. As you will see on the web, the reefs are named after the distance from the beach to the reef, 2 mile, 5 mile, etc. A genaeral complaint that I have read numerous times is that 90% or more of the dives are done at 2 mile reef. I can confirm this, as in 1 week of diving, I visited 2-mile reef 9 times and 5-mile reef 1 time. I have unfortunately seen this behaviour of boat captains/dive centers in other parts of the world as well and they usually attribute it to 'wheather', 'circumstances', etc. Still, when you have a chance, visit Sodwana, overall it was definitely worth the trip, although I won't go through all the trouble of getting there again...

Bass Lake in South Africa Not worth the bother, unless you want an altitude dive in your logbook. as said in the above description, itīs a good training site.

Khor Fakkan / Fujairah in UAE I was on business in UEA and as such went over to Fujairah for the weekend. It's not really a place worth to plan a vaction to, but if you are in the area, it's enjoyable for diving. Divers Down was nice and relaxed yet professional.

Puerto Galera in Philippines In my memeory, still one of the best places ever to have dived. It's been a while, but I'll probably be going there agian next year.

Green Island Bay in Philippines Itīs been a while, ī96, but there was major damage due to dynamite fishing. Few fishes remained as a result....
